Wee hours

It's about 6:00 in the morning. Since it's Sunday I should still be sleeping, catching up on all the non sleeping hours of the work week before. But I'm awake-wide awake-as usual. I have to work on book number 5 or book # 3? It's actually book # 5 for me, but in the literary world it seems that anything you did before you get that contract is non existent.

Quench My Thirst seems to be holding its own in sales. I watch the numbers on Amazon, even though I've been advised it is not a true indicator. It is the only indicator I have. Amazon shows me movement - not super spectacular movement, but movement none-the-less. This is good.

Next month I hope to see the cover for next May's release, PROMISCUOUS. I am very curious to see what Kensington does with this one. I'll be sure to be holding my breath when I get that envelope.

Anyway, I'm just rambling, so until I think of something really important to share. I'll log off now...

Animal Cruelty vs Domestic Violence - A surprising winner

Michael Vick has pled guilty and as such will get his plea deal. I was listening to commentary this morning on CNN by a journalist who brought to light the glaring fact that Michael Vick's situation has drawn more attention than a few other sports heros who created crimes against human beings. He cited a football player accused of ramming his hummer into a car containing his wife and child, a few more convicted of domestic violence charges.
Isn't it amazing there is such an outcry - front page headlines and 24 /7 media coverage since day 1 for a man accused of violence against animals. Yet, when women suffer violence at the hands of men who "love" them, who also happen to be sports figures, or celebrities there is barely a blip on the radar of the media.
What kind of message does this convey? A prominent female Evangelist was reportedly beaten by her spouse in a public place and it never made my local news channel. Yet everyday online and on TV I see and hear about Michael Vick.
Don't get me wrong - I like animals and abhor the violent sport of dog fighting. But I think the PETA people need to get off this band wagon of vilifying Vick and return to one of their many real causes. Especially considering it was reported today that they have euthanized over 14, 000 animals last year compared to the 8 Vick purportedly killed.

He did the crime and he will undoubtedly serve out whatever sentence is given him, but can we move on to more important news than whether or not this millionaire is going to lose another lucrative contract worth more millions of dollars.

New to blogging

My daughter created this blog for me. She is diligently working her way into becoming my publicist and is full of creative ideas. She told me it was important for my readers to know more about me personally and my thoughts.
As a writer it would seem blogging would be a natural thing. I guess I’ve always thought of it as a public diary. Being a private person, I must say the idea did not appeal to me in that context. However, I do have random thoughts, right, wrong or indifferent on current events. I would be happy to share my thoughts on celebrities, politics, culture and of course writing. So if you check back soon I promise to have some musings posted this weekend….
